Air Fryer Mushrooms and Onionsis a fantastic quick side dish that you can make with pantry staples. You just need need 15 mins to make this sautéed mushrooms and onions in air fryer. Perfect for sandwiches, burgers, as pizza topping, and as a healthy side dish.
Clean Mushrooms: Rinse the mushrooms in a colander under running tap water until all the dirt is removed. Allow them to drain for sometime and than pat dry the mushrooms with the help of kitchen towels. Never soak mushrooms in water!
Dice Mushrooms: Dice the mushrooms into halves. If your mushrooms are larger you may quarter them. Do not slice the mushrooms as they shrink quite a bit while air frying. Slice the onion roughly into ¼ inch or ½ inch slices.
Season Mushrooms: Add all the seasonings and soy sauce into the bowl containing the mushrooms and onions. Toss them well until they are well coated with the seasoning and the soy sauce.
Air Fry Mushrooms and Onions
Air Fry: Pre-heat the air fryer at 390 F. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil spray and layer the mushrooms and onions inside the basket. Air Fry for 12 mins at 390 F shaking the basket halfway through. Serve immediately for best flavor. Enjoy! I tested this recipe using my Bella air fryer and also using the instant pot air fryer lid. You might slightly have to adjust the cook time depending on your air fryer brand, model, size.
Notes
Large Mushrooms: Dice them into quarters.
Best Mushrooms: Baby Bella, Cremini or white mushrooms.
Is the recipe spicy: Yes, it's mildly spicy. If you are heat intolerant do not add the red pepper flakes.
Can I use white or red onion: Yes you can. The white onion will make the dish slightly sweet, whereas the red onion will make it more pungent and earthy.
