I am sharing here 8 air fryer chickpeas seasoning mix options, you can pick whatever you want:
- Chickpeas: Use canned drained & rinsed chickpeas or pressure cooked chickpeas.
- Seasonings: I used a variety of seasoning combos for each batch of air fryer chickpeas recipe. Like paprika, chili powder, cayenne, red pepper flakes, maple syrup, garlic powder, turmeric, ground black pepper, old bay seasoning, ranch seasoning, cinnamon etc. You can find the detailed flavor combos at the bottom of the post on the recipe card. You do not need all of these seasonings, just pick whatever flavor combo you want to make.
- Lemon or Lime juice.
- Salt: Add according to your personal taste preference. I normally add ¼ teaspoon for each batch of roasted chickpeas.
Helpful Tips
- Drying chickpeas: You do not need to dry the chickpeas completely before air frying. The air fryer will help evaporate the excess moisture from the garbanzo beans.
- Rinse or no rinse: Drain the canned chickpeas in a colander and than rinse them under running tap water. This will help rinse out the excess sodium and also make them easily digestible.
- Intense flavor: If you prefer intense flavor than do make a little more seasoning mix than suggested in todays recipe and toss the air fryer roasted chickpeas in the seasoning before serving them. We do not follow this step always.
- Crispy chickpeas: The cook time will depend on your air fryer model, it might vary slightly. I made this recipe using my 6 quart Bella Air fryer & also tested it using the instant pot air fryer lid. I have not tested this recipe using an oven style air fryer. 17 mins is what worked for me. You should be careful and keep on checking them frequently from 12 mins onwards.
- Do not double recipe: Do not double the recipe as the crowded chickpeas in the air fryer basket won't crisp up evenly and you'll end up with more soggy chickpeas than crispy ones. Instead make multiple batches to achieve the crispiest roasted chickpeas every single time.
- For best result: Serve them immediately for the crispiest texture. Storing leftovers for 2-3 days in paper bags is fine but after that they will begin to loose their crunch.

Now, transfer them into a bowl and add your favorite seasoning mix (8 seasonings mix recipes provided at the bottom of the post in the recipe card). Toss to coat well the chickpeas uniformly.
- Air fry: Preheat the air fryer on 390 F for 5 mins. Layer the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry on 390 F for 17 mins shaking the basket every 3 mins. The cook time might vary slightly depending on your air fryer model and brand. Do check the chickpeas from time to time for preferred crispiness and to prevent them from burning. Be extra careful and vigilant after 15 mins.
